To our countrymen, friends, neighboring sovereigns, nobles, and countries: An Official Announcement.
Welcome to the unveiling of the official Coat of Arms of Maranatha. It is our wish to explain the symbolism associated with it.
I won't go into the official blazon (how they would announce a coat of arms at a tournament) because it's confusing and I barely understand it myself. Therefore, here is the symbolism.

The Field of the Shield (the background color): Gules (red)- warrior or martyr; military strength and magnanimity (generosity in overlooking injury or insult; rising above pettiness; noble). I chose this color for two reasons. First, I like it and a black background, my favorite color, just wouldn't show the symbols well. Second, while we certainly don't want to be warriors or martyrs as our first choice, magnanimity is a christian virtue we should all strive to acquire.
The Torch: the flame : Or (gold)- generosity and elevation of the mind (matches very well with the torch), the handle : Argent (silver or white)- peace and sincerity, the torch itself: life; zealousness, knowledge, purification, love, truth and intelligence.
The Raven: knowledge, divine providence; one who has derived little from his ancestors so has become architect of his own fortunes; one of an enduring constancy of nature.
The Stag: peace and harmony; one who is skillful but will not fight unless seriously provoked; also associated with healing.
Helmet: facing front- royalty
Crown: royal or seigniorial (feudal lord) authority- royal authority in this case.
Laurel Wreath: Vert (green)- hope, joy, and loyalty in love; the wreath itself- peace and quiet; triumph and fame, especially when it is gained after a long, inner struggle.
We hope this coat of arms will be an inspiration to those with purpose in their lives and a guide to those still looking.
