Christmas Greetings 2009
This year has been an interesting year. We started the year out with a trip to Hawaii with the whole family at the end of January. We spent a full week on Oahu. We went to the Polynesian Cultural Center, the Dole Plantation, a swap meet at the stadium, snorkeling in Hanauma Bay, Waikiki, wading out to Goat Island, a tour of BYU Hawaii. We rented a beach house near Laie that sleeps 14 for the same price as 3 hotel rooms. It was wonderful! The kids went to the beach every day except Sunday. It was great and we all have beautiful memories.
North graduated from high school in June. He moved in with Bronc, a friend, shortly after, just a mile away and worked at Napa Auto Parts. Then, he moved to Medford for about 6 weeks to work and take some classes at a community college. He couldn’t find work, so he moved to Utah to stay with Grandma and Grandpa Garfield. A job found him 2 days later during church and he’s doing great!
We decided to send the 3 oldest girls, Charity, Celestial, and Harmony, to a charter school in Klamath Falls this year. Harmony has gotten straight A’s since kindergarten and was bored in school. She skipped 8th grade and now goes to high school. She’s doing great, loves school, and is being challenged academically. We’re so glad we chose to change schools. Celestial and Charity are taking college courses for college and high school credit. We’re thrilled about their enhanced educational opportunities.
2 days before Halloween, Northrop lost his job. He’s been handing out job applications and resume’s all over town and has started his own nail trimming business. He has an ad in the paper and flyers up in the nursing homes too. He has a good name in town and I’m sure it’ll be just fine.
I’ve decided to get my dental hygiene license again. I’m hoping to use the dental hygiene clinic at Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls to brush up my skills and prepare for the exams for licensure. If I have to work again, I’m going to be paid well for it! I’m sure I’ll be ready for the first exams in the spring.
In the meantime, we’ve been immensely blessed. We love having our husband and father around more. Things have been done that he didn’t have time for before. It’s been great! We’ve been able to trade painting the house for rent credit. Heavenly Father is taking good care of us.
We hope and pray your Christmas Season is happy and full of love and hope for the future.
